Getting Started with 1SYNC

You’re ready to get started with 1SYNC™ if you’re ready to:

  • Share product and location information with your customers electronically
  • Make your value chain more visible, secure, and sustainable
  • Get your products on the shelf faster
  • Reduce your out-of-stocks

It’s easy to get started:

  • Step 1: Obtain a Company Prefix by Joining GS1 US Partner Connections
Your organization needs to have a GS1 Company Prefix and/or a Global Location Number (GLN) in order to synchronize data in the Global Data Synchronization Network® (GDSN®). If you manufacturer products and need a U.P.C. barcode, you should join the GS1 US Partner Connections program so your organization can be assigned a GS1 Company Prefix, a number that will uniquely identify your company. The GS1 Company Prefix is used to build your product barcodes and GLN locations.
You can check to see if your company already has a GLN by using the GEPIR Directory. If you do not manufacturer a product but need a GLN to synchronize data, please contact GS1 US for information on how to obtain one.
  • Step 2: Subscribe to the 1SYNC Data Pool
Complete the brief online application  (known as the Trading Partner Service Agreement or TPSA).
  • Step 3: Implement Data Synchronization
1SYNC offers three implementation options to help you start synchronizing data with your customers as quickly and accurately as possible. Education and training are also available.
