UCC and EAN International (now GS1) have successfully been delivering standards to over 1 million companies around the world to improve the efficiency of the supply chain. Today, our global bar code standards guarantee that any product, pallet, or case can be scanned and read in any country around the world. Our global EDI standards dramatically increase data accuracy and speed by fully automating the exchange of business documents (orders, invoices, payments, etc.) between trading partners whether they are across the street or on another continent.
The arrival of new technologies and the globalization of commerce have provided a unique opportunity to improve the efficiency of the global supply chain even further in the future. Global standards are imperative in this quest. For that reason, the development of one, global, open, multi-sectoral system of standards has been a critical focus of the world's business and industry leaders.
GS1 is the new name for the combined legacies of UCC, EAN International and its expanding member organization base. GS1 formally combines the world's most accepted standards system, the EAN.UCC System, into one organization with no geographic or industry boundaries. As GS1 US, we will continue leading our members along the way to provide solutions to bring efficiency to their business.
One world.
One global language of business.
GS1 US.
