Music/Video/Book Publishing
Enabling product data capture and synchronization among business partners
To reduce costs, make business processes more efficient, and improve data accuracy, major retailers and distributors in the music, video, and publishing industries have embraced Global Data Synchronization and are working hard to have their suppliers join them.
To promote broader standards adoption, companies doing business in the music, video, and book publishing sectors are encouraged to join GS1 US through its Partner Connections program and to adopt the following GS1 Standards into their business practices, as appropriate:
Global Data Synchronization for collaborative commerce – Video sector
A company’s product information database is like a catalogue that customers can use to place orders and manage vendors. But when one company needs to change information in their database or add a new item or location to it, suddenly their "catalogue" isn't up to date anymore, causing issues throughout the supply chain.
Major retailers and distributors in the video sector have embraced Global Data Synchronization and are working to implement collaborative commerce using the GS1 System. Collaborative commerce enables retailers, suppliers, and distributors to share information with one another in a standard business language, bringing visibility, security, and sustainability to the supply chain.
GS1 music/video/book publishing industry partners
To help promote standardization and synchronization throughout these sectors and address inefficient business processes in the supply chain, GS1 works closely with key organizations, including:
- International Music Products Association (NAMM)
- National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM)
- Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)
- Book Industry Study Group (BISG)
