Certification Programs
GS1 and the GS1 US Solution Partner Program offer the opportunity to demonstrate your capabilities for implementing standards through rigorous certification processes in one or more of three areas:
GS1 US Barcode Product Certification
All standards-certified products (software, printers, scanners, and verifiers) for the GS1 System are tested for compliance in one or more of the 10 GS1 System barcodes. The specific barcodes tested for each product and the specific version for software or hardware is listed on the fact sheet for each Solution Provider.
Data Quality – Package Measurement Rules Accreditation
GS1 US offers an accreditation program for Solution Partners providing package measurement services to their customers. Accredited providers in the program undergo a rigorous process, through which they must:
- Demonstrate knowledge of GS1 Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) package measurement standards
- Possess National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) certified digital equipment for linear and weight measurement
- Undergo periodic reviews/internal audits to ensure strict adherence to program requirements and GDSN standards
GS1 EPCglobal Certification
The GS1 EPCglobal Certification Program is a standards-based compliance and interoperability testing program that is developed by the EPCglobal community to provide:
- A neutral and authoritative source for testing EPC/RFID technology
- Information regarding certified hardware and software products as well as the vendors who manufacture them
For Solution Providers, the Certification Program verifies that their hardware and software products comply with EPCglobal standards and links them to EPCglobal subscribers who are looking for specific products and services. Solution Partners are a key part of the EPCglobal community and offer end users of EPC-based Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology an array of choices for tags, readers, software, and services.
