GS1 Standards (101): Introduction to Identify

Are you new to the GS1 System of Standards? Join us for this half-day session to learn the fundamentals of GS1 identifiers used to uniquely identify products (trade items) and locations. This course will help you to understand the value of your GS1 US-issued Company Prefix, how identification numbers are structured, what they are used for, and how you can apply them to improve business processes, transactions, and data quality. You will also learn how to construct identifiers using your prefix such as Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) for products and Global Location Numbers (GLNs) for locations. Other topics will include:
- Product hierarchy
- GTIN assignment
- Common GTIN mistakes
All attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

For those with a working knowledge of GS1 Standards who want to expand their knowledge, the GS1 Standards Certificate Program is an extensive day and a half of classroom instruction with interactive assessments at the end of each section. Join us for this advanced course covering the GS1 General Specifications—the core standards document of the GS1 System of Standards. This in-depth review will help you understand the rules and guidelines for:
- Identification keys for products, locations, logistics units, assets and service relationships
- Encoding data carriers with static and dynamic product data
- Proper application and implementation of GS1 Standards

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Essentials Certificate
Sunday, June 3rd, 1:00 – 5:00 pm and Monday, June 4th, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
This course is designed for the new EDI coordinator, EDI specialist, and business owner or a business function owner—such as the company buyer or accounts payable/receivable area that needs to transact with trading partners using EDI. EDI enables the computer-to-computer exchange of business documents between companies using a standard format, regardless of the kind of computer or software trading partners use.
