Retailers love GS1 Barcodes

Get your barcodes from GS1 US.

Now it’s time to take the next step. To sell your product in a store or online, you'll need a way to identify your product uniquely to retailers.

When you get barcodes from GS1 US we’ll issue you a unique company identification number, called a GS1 Company Prefix. It’s part of every barcode you create and is the key to uniquely linking your company to your products in the marketplace.

When you get your barcodes from GS1 US, you are getting authentic barcodes. Every barcode you create will point to you as the brand owner of that product. Which is why retailers love GS1 barcodes. Why get barcodes from anyone else when you can get GS1 compliant barcodes directly from the source?

Want Barcodes? Follow these simple steps:

  1. Get a GS1 Company Prefix
  2. Generate Unique Identifiers (GTINs)
  3. Generate Barcodes

GS1 US is the only not-for-profit company in the barcode business. We pioneered the use of the UPC barcode over 40 years ago. If you get your barcodes from a source other than GS1 US, you run the risk of important company information missing from your barcode.

In this publication, the letters “U.P.C.” are used solely as an abbreviation for the “Universal Product Code”, which is a product identification system. They do not refer to the UPC, which is a federally registered certification mark of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) to certify compliance with a Uniform Plumbing Code as authorized by IAPMO.
