The Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS) is a non-profit healthcare system serving more than half of Louisiana’s population. As a Catholic ministry, FMOLHS provides $39 million yearly in non-reimbursed care and community support for the underprivileged. Challenged by the rising costs and growing complexity of delivering quality healthcare, FMOLHS needed to improve its operational efficiencies, control costs, and remain focused on what mattered most—the safety and care of its patients.
FMOLHS took the strategic step of implementing GS1 Standards to help drive the digital transformation of its business and clinical processes. Working closely with its suppliers and GS1 Healthcare US® Initiative Solution Providers, the health system laid a firm standards-based foundation that integrated with its software-based systems, to manage and control product inventory and location information. In addition, FMOLHS is now able to share accurate and complete product data within its system and with its suppliers—making sure that the right products are delivered just-in-time for use, to the right patients and correct procedures.
