Request a Company Name Change With GS1 US

Learn how to complete the GS1 US company name change request process to keep your product and location information accurate.

Why Change Your Company Name With GS1 US?

Companies must maintain an accurate legal company name in GS1 US® records. This ensures products and locations registered with GS1 US remain accurate and aligned with your business identity and that they can be authenticated by your supply chain partners.

Common reasons for a name change request:

Business's legal name has been updated after filing a name change amendment or company conversion

A typographical or spelling error needs to be corrected

Company’s name on record is a DBA (doing business as), assumed, or fictitious name

Helpful Tip:
If the name change is due to a merger, acquisition, or divestiture, initiate a Transfer Request, as this involves a change in ownership.

  1. Download and complete the Company Name Change Request Form.
  2. Gather documents supporting your company name change (i.e., Certificate of Amendment).
  3. Email the completed form and all documentation to dmaintenance@gs1us.org.

Tip: Add dmaintenance@gs1us.org to your email contacts or safe sender list to ensure you receive updates on your request.

Online via myGS1 US

  1. For those who have access, log in to the Customer Support Portal
  2. Gather documents supporting your company name change (i.e., Certificate of Amendment).
  3. Complete the online form and upload your supporting legal documents.
